Hello, and welcome to Snapdragon Studio! I'm Michaela Hart, the Philadelphia-based creative behind the illustration work and printmaking projects you'll find here. Being an avid reader gave me my current love for all things fantasy, and it only grew larger after I realized I was a lesbian. Figuring out who I was as a person opened up even more social and historical inspiration, and growing up surrounded by the Pine Barrens instilled a deep love for both nature and everything strange. Snapdragons in particular, with their whimsical allure in life and macabre beauty after death, well-capture the essence of my work. I’ve even gone so far as to have them tattooed—twice!

I have a passion for speculative fiction, printmaking, and book illustration, and I can’t wait to share more through an upcoming shop. I earned my BFA in illustration (and minor in printmaking) from the University of the Arts in 2024. My current concentrations include relief prints, fantasy book illustration covers, and interiors.
